Not sure you understand the underlying business model of Demo Days and the difference to equity research/conferences. While in both cases spoiled investors are treated for free, companies may pay for presenting (this business has been around a while), so the organizer earns money that way; similarly, investment banks had a business from the presenting companies and the resulting stock trades, making money. Who has an incentive to make this free? Ie who pays the organizers for a quality production that is free for all while still insuring quality? Free lunch? Really?
