Camille Saint-Saëns “The Swan” for Cello & Piano
I remember a video of Mstislav Rostropovich teaching “The Swan,” and I was very inspired by it, how to make every detail of the music describe the motions of a swan — not a duck, not a goose, but a swan, paddling then gliding, yet graceful, seamless. That’s one reason I had a poster of Rostropovich on my wall as a kid: through his music, I heard and saw his stories.
