Bitcoin Rhodium Mainnet Launch (Press Release)

The MainNet has been launched

October 22, 2018 — BitCoin Rhodium’s development team is very proud to announce that, after a year of exhaustive work, the Bitcoin Rhodium (BTR) MainNet was launched this weekend. Progress can be viewed at http://poolcore.bitcoinrh.org/, and mining is open to the public, that is to individual miners as well as mining pools. Any equipment that supports BTR’s X13 algorithm can mine it, as discussed in the BTR mining manual (https://www.bitcoinrh.org/MiningSetup.pdf). Please, note that block times may fluctuate during early days of the network until we accumulate and stabilize hashrate.

Bitcoin Rhodium is the first altcoin to be launched entirely via airdrop to Bitcoin holders; who registered in December and January, and claimed BTR in three separate claim periods — the last of which, concluded September 29th. Of the 840,000 BTR allocated to the airdrop, 582,856 were claimed — with the balance to be allocated, over time, to foundations — in a recognition of their contributions to the crypto space; libraries; and the first three trustworthy non-profit, charitable organizations to accept BTR. In time, privacy features will be added.

The lifetime supply cap is 2.1 million, or one-tenth that of Bitcoin. Aside from the 582,856 claimed via airdrop; and 257,144 to be donated over time; 1.05 million will be mined over the next 100 years. Additionally, 105,000 have been reserved for marketing of the coin and 105,000 for the development team — a portion of which, will be part of the initial supply.

Currently, BTR is held in private wallets, that are being migrated to Electrum, allowing BTR holders to use both wallets. BTR holders need not do anything, as their balances will be migrated automatically. Once 2016 blocks have been mined — which likely, will take roughly two weeks; BTR will be listed on a major cryptocurrency exchange — where it can be traded for and from BTC. Once exchange listing is achieved, BTR’s source code will be revealed on GitHub, for the global mining community to observe.
