Bitlayer, the first Bitcoin security-equivalent Layer 2 based on the BitVM paradigm, is gaining more applications as the official developer incentive airdrop program moves forward. As progress continues, it’s crucial to determine the right gas cost for on-chain operations. Setting fees too low may lead to miners overlooking transactions, resulting in a lengthy confirmation time. Conversely, setting it too high could result in rapid transaction confirmations, leading to excessive fees.

Currently, the Bitlayer blockchain transfer’s gas cost is about $0.3. However, users might see higher costs in actual operations. To minimize fund loss, users often need to manually adjust the parameters in their Web3 wallets.

This guide will help you adjust gas costs in your Web3 wallet. If you’re using MetaMask, please follow the tutorial below.

  1. Open the MetaMask send transaction page. Here, you’ll see a transaction fee prompt. For example, the gas might be estimated at 0.0000315BTC. Click “Next” to proceed.

2. As illustrated in the figure, the estimated fee for this transfer is 0.0000315BTC (approximately $2.08). To minimize the loss of funds, you can manually adjust this fee. Please follow the prompts to make these changes.

3. On the manual adjustment page, click “Advanced” to manually input the expected Gas fee.

4. On the Advanced Gas Fee page, enter the number “0.1” in the Priority Fee editable box and click “Save”.

5. Upon returning to the page that confirms the transaction, you’ll notice the Gas for this transaction is currently set at 0.000021BTC (approximately $0.14). After reviewing the transfer details, click “Confirm” and await Bitlayer’s confirmation.
