The Power of Power Naps
Since we’ve already talked about consistency — let’s talk about an underrated skill to maintain it.
Power Naps — This term was coined by Cornell University social psychologist James Maas.
If you’re having trouble feeling energized & active during the day this is for you. By the time you finish reading this, you will surely be amazed by the Power of Power Naps!
For the past year, I have been reading, researching & experimenting with ways to enhance my performance & consistency in my Work + Life. I hope to share my practical learning here so that you too are able to reach your goals faster!
Here are 3 reasons to include Power Naps in your Daily Routine:
1. A power nap can be somewhere around 20–30 minutes long. That’s nothing compared to what a person spends doom-scrolling across social media platforms!
In February 2015 The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism published a study, short 30-minute naps had stress relieving and immune benefits for a group of healthy young adult men.
2. Of course, you have to experiment & see which time frame suits you the best according to your routine.
A 1995 study by NASA found that a 26-minute nap was the “sweet spot” for a nap, improving alertness by 54 percent and performance by 34 percent.
3. The inability to wake up feeling fresh & foggy memory were two of my main problems.
A NASA study led by David F. Dinges, professor at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, found that naps can improve certain memory functions.
