Athleticism

Q.A.B. 7.50 He has good feet and excellent balance. He has excellent lateral burst and can gain separation over the middle of the field.

Flexibility 7.00 Brown is a tall shifty receiver that can twist his body to make acrobatic catches all over the field. He doesn’t always high point the ball and struggle with his pad level with the ball in his hands.

C.O.D. 7.50 Brown has great change of direction, as he can plant his foot and drive back to the ball. He is excellent at crossing routes and thrives on deep-in routes over the middles of the field.

Explosion 7.50 Brown is surprisingly explosive for his size. He created explosive plays throughout his career. Brown has good burst out of his stance and can build up speed quickly.

Deep Speed 8.00 Brown is a very lanky receiver that is very light considering his size. He has excellent build up speed and can beat coverage deep. He excels in intermediate routes over the middle.

Without Ball

Quicks Off LOS 8.00 Brown is very quick and explosive off the line. He is very fluid and doesn’t waste motion. He has a good first step and can release very easily when not in press.

Release VS Jam 6.50 Brown has very long arms and utilizes his hands well to push the defender off his spot. He uses a nice head fake to gain separation from the corner and ultimately release off the line.

Route Running 8.00 Brown is an exceptional route runner. He does an excellent job of gaining leverage and using his size to his advantage. He is a very fluid athlete and excels in intermediate routes where he can utilize his short are and lateral burst. He is an exceptional athlete for his size, and he does and excellent job of dropping his hips in and out of his break.

Separation 7.50 He utilizes his foot quicks and speed to gain separation. He has excellent body control and a natural ability to gain separation from the defender. He utilizes his size to his advantage shielding the defender from the ball.

Blocking 5.50 He is a willing blocker, but he doesn’t put much effort into taking a defender out of the play. He doesn’t hit or drive a defender, but instead stands and stock blocks a defender allowing them to pass and make a play.

With Ball In Hands

Hands 7.50 Brown has good strong hands. He is capable of making tough catches downfield, but can struggle when draped in close coverage. He displays soft hands and a wide catching radius. He has the ability to stretch his arms out and catch the ball away from his body.

Yard After Contact 7.00 Brown has excellent contact balance and body control often running through arm tackles. He isn’t a very powerful player, but can gain yards after contact. he always fall forward with the ball in his hands.

Ability in Space 8.00 Brown is very quick and can build up speed quickly. He excels in intermediate routes where he can show off his quickness and run away from a defender. He has the talent and foot quicks to avoid contact in the open field and can often outrun the coverage.

Toughness 6.50 Brown has a history of injury, but has often shown the toughness to play through sprains and bruises. He has excellent height, but is built like a string bean. he is very lanky and could benefit from adding weight. This would give him more power strength and durability.

Production 5.50 Brown hasn’t had a lot of opportunity playing in the Fighting Irish offensive. He is a very talented receiver that has the talent to succeed at the next level.

Consistency/Motor 7.00 Brown is very consistent. He is a team leader and gives his all on every play. He is a high intensity athlete that wants to win and succeed.

Intelligence

Instincts 8.00 Brown is a very smart athlete. He was a mentor for younger players and has a high football IQ. He does a great job of finding open space and using his big frame to set up a target for his quarterback. He does an excellent job with shielding the defender and utilizes his body control to get hsi feet in bounds when making a sideline grab.

Learn/Retain 7.50 He is a very smart player, that had a role in Notre Dame’s offense since his true freshman season. Injuries derailed is campaign, but brown has become a leader on the team.

Position Versatility 8.00 Brown is a big bodied receiver that has great speed, quickness and body control. He has a unique size when compared to his speed. He can beat smaller corners on deep routes and catch the ball in traffic along the sideline, as well as, matchup in the slot and beat a defender strictly using his body control and route running ability. He can line up all over the field in an NFL offense, but he will thrive as an outside receiver who continuously works over the middle of the field and gets the opportunity to run after the catch.

Brown is surprisingly explosive when considering his size. He has outstanding burst out of his stance and can build up speed quickly. He has excellent build up speed and can beat coverage deep. He excels on intermediate routes where he can utilize his quickness and size to box out defenders. He is an exceptional route runner. He knows how to gain leverage over a defender by using his size. He consistently drops his hips in and out of his breaks. He is a fluid athlete with the ability to gain separation across them middles of the field or deep down the sideline. He is very quick and explosive off the line and can release quickly against air. He uses his arms well when face with press. He utilizes a head fake to gain separation off the line. Brown has displayed soft hands throughout his career. He is capable of making tough catches, but he can struggle when draped in close coverage. He has a wide catching radius and can catch the ball away from his body. Brown is a tall receiver with the talent to play anywhere on the field. He has the quickness and talent to play in the slot and work across the middle of the field, or to become a team’s deep threat.

Weaknesses

Brown is an athletic receiver a ton of potential. He has natural flexibility, but he doesn’t high point the ball and rarely lowers his pads on impact. He is a big-bodied receiver, but he isn’t very physical and shies away from contact. He doesn’t put much effort into blocking downfield. He tries to get one good hit on a opposing player, but stops and allows them to pass and make a play on the ball carrier. He has displayed soft hands, but struggles when in close coverage. This can be an issue as he thrives in the middle of the field where more defenders will be placed. Brown has a history of injury and is built like a string bean. He is very lanky standing at 6’5” and weighing only 203 lbs. He has shown toughness by playing through bumps and bruises, but he is not very physical or powerful and should add weight to develop as a bigger tframe. He is a very talented receiver, but he struggled this past season and wasn’t productive in Notre Dame’s offense

Big Picture

Brown has the athleticism and size to give defenders fits. He is very elusive and quick, but doesn’t have the desired power or strength to power through defenders and bully them. He has great build up speed, and good acceleration. He is an excellent route runner with the ability to work anywhere on the field. He has great hands, but can struggle in close man to man coverage. Brown has excellent contact balance and body control. He has the ability to run through arm tackles, but doesn’t have the playing strength to break tackles consistently. He is dangerous in the open field and excels in intermediate routes. He is very quick off the line and knows how to use his size to his advantage. Brown is extremely lanky, and has injury concerns entering the NFL. He will need to add weight and strength to be a consistent dominant presence in an Offensive scheme at the next level. Brown had the talent to play anywhere on the field. He has the speed and height desired in a true deep threat with the fluidity and athleticism coveted in slots. He has the talent and ability to succeed early in his career, but would greatly benefit from added weight.
