Bitcoin introduced the world to blockchain 1.0 in 2009 with a new transaction ledger. In 2013, Ethereum gave us smart contracts and is often referred to as blockchain 2.0. Fast forward to 2017 when projects such as EOS, DFINITY, and Cosmos emerged, featuring high performance, advanced governance, better consensus, cross chain solutions among other things, which has lead to them being labeled the third generation of blockchain technology.

However, there is another upcoming project which can revolutionize the blockchain and deliver even more advancements and impact the industry like never before. The project is Seele, and many people believe it is blockchain 4.0. Whatever Bitcoin and Ethereum can do, Seele can do as well. It focuses on scalability, flexibility and usability, and incorporating real world industrial applications. It has an economic system that can be used for governance, healthcare, IoT, games, social applications, fintech, and more.

Seele is powered by an up-scalable neural consensus protocol for high throughput concurrency among large scale heterogeneous nodes and is able to form a unique heterogeneous forest multi-chain ecosystem.

Why is Seele Blockchain 4.0?

Here are 4 reasons why Seele is the 4th generation of the blockchain (as seen on their website):

  1. We include several features of 3.0: faster consensus and transaction confirmation, high concurrency, cross-chain, better governance mechanisms, and so on.
  2. Building on this we add some improvements: we propose the fundamental protocol stacks for Value Internet and heterogeneous forest network, to connect and communicate with our own chains and Bitcoin, Ethereum and other blockchain systems. In addition, we propose a neural consensus algorithm where the higher the degree of participation, the faster the consensus convergence is reached.
  3. Our governance mechanism is innovative. It takes into account efficiency and fairness, co-existence of various consensus algorithms, and various token systems and decentralized exchange rate mechanisms.
  4. Seele provides a complete ecosystem of bottom-up technologies, architecture and top-level applications, enabling all types of resources worldwide to trust each other for greater information exchange and business collaboration and for enabling more efficient society.

As you can see, Seele is ahead of the game and is looking to deliver some real innovation to the blockchain in 2018. Seele currently has partnerships with Stanford, UCLA, Oxford and IBM Watson among others to work on a cooperative study on data interaction on/off chain. They are working on their test network in 2018 Q2, and expect to launch the main network in 2018 Q4.
