Blockshipping — the company behind the Global Shared Container Platform (GSCP) and the first shipping ICO in the Nordics — is happy to announce its choice of cloud platform provider.

Blockshipping (www.blockshipping.io) is building a platform that allows the global container shipping industry to potentially save USD 5.7 billion per year. To realise this potential, Blockshipping needs access to enterprise-grade infrastructure and global scale straight away. Blockshipping’s CEO, Peter Ludvigsen, explains:

“We are pleased that our preferred cloud platform provider Amazon Web Services not only wants to deliver their services to Blockshipping but also invites Blockshipping to join their startup development program ‘AWS Activate’”.

The AWS Activate program provides startups with the resources they need to quickly get started on AWS.

Peter Ludvigsen has worked on the IT side of the container shipping industry for 39 years. He first started using AWS when working as a CIO for the global shipping platform INTTRA.

“Having worked with AWS previously, I know its capabilities and its width in its technology stack, but now as a startup, we are not only leveraging the capability of the platform but also getting access to support and to AWS’ knowledge base and global network through the AWS Activate program”.

To ensure an efficient set-up of the AWS infrastructure, Blockshipping has teamed up with the leading Nordic AWS partner KeyCore (www.keycore.dk) as a trusted technology advisor to deliver best-in-class AWS infrastructure architecture and design to meet Blockshipping’s requirements.

Blockshipping is focusing on fulfilling the development plan for the GSCP platform, and the company has already been able to attract a global container carrier as the first customer and user of the platform. Peter Ludvigsen says:

“I am extremely proud to say that Blockshipping has obtained confirmation from a global container carrier that they will join our GSCP platform as our first customer. This is a carrier in the 10–20 global ranking who has also confirmed that they will join our Customer advisory board.”
