I think we can all agree that Daniel Craig, especially in his debut in Casino Royale, truly captured what and who James Bond is. But in ‘The World Is Not Enough’, right after Bond shoots Elektra, he utters three simple words that captures, at least verbally, the very essence of Bond, “I never miss”. At first, I used to think it just meant he never fails to capture his target or complete his objective. It wasn’t until I saw Craig’s version of Bond that I knew that in addition to always completing his mission, he has no remorse or guilt over the people that perish in the process, namely the women. When he says “I never miss”, you can only imagine what he must’ve gone through to make him so cold and detached, and we see exactly that in spades in Casino Royale (no pun intended).
I just wanted to share this thought with all of you since I thought it was a pivotal moment in character development. In that one scene, Pierce Brosnan was the most Bond we’ve seen until Daniel Craig’s incarnation in Casino Royale.
