Blue Star Families to Distribute 700 STEM Backpacks for Military Children on Camp Pendleton from #STEMSolve Conference Partners

Blue Star Families (BSF) was honored to be included in First Book’s backpack build at the U.S. Stem Solutions Conference in San Diego on June 30th. BSF Executive Director Noeleen Tillman spoke at the event and thanked event sponsor U.S. News & World Report and longtime program partner First Book for their support, “First Book was a crucial early partner of our Books on Bases program. And with their support, we have been able to distribute more than 85,000 books to military children and their families at more than 35 bases at home and overseas, including installations in Germany, England, Alaska, Hawaii, South Korea, Italy, and Japan.”
Blue Star Families’ mission is to strengthen military families and connect America to its military. Blue Star Families’ Books on Bases offers military kids a sense of continuity, safety, and belonging through the magic of reading. These events help military families spend quality time together, escape everyday stresses, and talk thoughtfully about home and life circumstances that might be difficult to discuss.
Backpacks from the event will be distributed on Camp Pendleton through Blue Star Families.
“ My vehicle is filled to the brim, there are backpacks everywhere. We are very excited to get these great STEM backpacks to military children on Camp Pendleton. We will be hosting our Blue Star Families Back to School event on August 14th,” said BSF Operations Fellow Amanda Yeram.
Sign ups for the Camp Pendleton Back to School event will be online soon at bluestarfam.org, make sure you are a BSF member to hear about it first!
