In 1976, Seger’s album Night Moves, a nostalgic trip through his teenage love life, garnered national praise. His long-awaited success came after he had been touring and recording since 1963, and he was already well-known in his home state of Michigan. Seger was known as the “Godfather” of stripped-down rock music and scored fourteen Top 40 hits in the US between 1976 and 1984.

Many musicians, like the Eagles, John Cougar Mellencamp, Bruce Springsteen, Jackson Browne, and Tom Petty, who shared a similar, uncomplicated rock sound, may trace their musical roots back to Seger.
