In 1986, Cain started his first band. His first record, Late Night City Blues, came out in 1987 on the Blue Rock’It label in his home state. Almost right away, hiring agents called. He was playing Europe before he even started going on tour in the U.S.
Cain heard stories about how his father grew up on Memphis’s Historic Beale Street, and he went to his first B.B. King show when he was only three years old. The stereo at home played blues music all the time, and family trips were often to shows. “I remember when I was a kid, my dad would mow the lawn while playing Muddy Waters on the stereo,” Cain says.
