Using Music For Education and Social Change

“I was riding the subway in New York on my way to work, and I heard these two monks playing music.” They wore clothes and were painted white from head to toe. Two people were singing in a language I didn’t understand while one played a string guitar. About 200 people just stood there and watched. They didn’t even get on the train. Some of them were crying. I thought, “This is a group of people who would normally run by each other, but they’re coming together instead.” They got together because of the music.
