4 Verses to Bless Someone Today

In life, we have all been subject to people saying unkind words to us. Sometimes these words land on us as a heavy dark cloud and leave us feeling less than what we are.

Hopefully, we have also received uplifting, life- giving words that lift our spirits, change our outlook or even change our thinking.

Scripture itself teaches us that words either give life or death. Words either encourage or discourage, build up or tear down.

Proverbs 11:25 tells us “Whoever brings blessing will be enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered.”

Proverbs 18:21 says, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.”

So, if you are tired as I am of hearing negative things, I have decided to search the Bible for words of blessing.

I want to start praying those blessings over my wife. Then I want to reach out to my children and give them words of blessing and in turn to bless their children. Then, as I go about my day, I want to look for others to give an encouraging word.

Here are 4 scriptures that I have found to start my blessings collection that I wanted to share.

Numbers 6:24–26

May the Lord Bless You

and protect you,

May the Lord smile on you

and be gracious to you,

May the Lord show you His favor

and give you peace.

Jeremiah 17:7–8

Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord,

And whose hope is the Lord.

For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters,

Which spreads out its roots by the river

And will not fear when heat comes;

But its leaf will be green,

And will not be anxious in the year of drought,

Nor will cease from yielding fruit.

Psalm 20:1–5

May the Lord answer you in the day of trouble!

May the name of the God of Jacob protect you!

May he send you help from the sanctuary

and give you support from Zion!

May he remember all your offerings

and regard with favor your burnt sacrifices!

May he grant you your heart’s desire

and fulfill all your plans!

May we shout for joy over your salvation

and in the name of our God set up our banners!

May the Lord fulfill all your petitions!

Psalms 1:1–3

Blessed is the man

who walks not in the counsel of the wicked,

nor stands in the way of sinners,

nor sits in the seat of scoffers;

but his delight is in the law of the Lord,

and on his law he meditates day and night.

He is like a tree planted by streams of water

that yields its fruit in its season,

and its leaf does not wither.

In all that he does, he prospers.

I would encourage you to take these verses and change the words to fit current day, for instance instead of sacrifices or burnt offerings, use how that person has served, given offerings or helped someone in some way. Also, to insert their name as you pray over them.

If you do this just one-time or on a regular basis, watch and see if that person isn’t blessed and encouraged. And, watch how you are blessed. Remember, “when you water, you too will be watered.”
