Conspicuous Consumption — Podcasts

I’ve been listening to podcasts a lot while working. The Rachel Maddow show audio podcast has become my favoured method of consuming the show, because there’s no way to get the complete video free and legal in the UK. And TRMS is the best way to keep up with the fascinating spy thriller that is “current US politics”. And I was recommended the New York Times Daily Podcast, which is a super quick 20 minute show.

I’m also listening to a couple of rather sturdy podcasts that help with the business of running a shirt company. Being Boss is a podcast for creative entrepreneurs, which sounds like me, right? It’s stuffed full of things I find useful. In particular, the women who run it say patiently, over and over again, that it’s all about doing the work. And that’s a very good message for me, given my natural tendency to dilettantism.

And Merch Minds is a really nuts and bolts guide to Amazon Merch. One of my forward goals for 2017 was to reduce the share of my income that was going to Teespring, and building a Merch account is part of that. I’m currently at the “25” tier on Merch, meaning that I can have 25 shirts live on the site, and I have to sell 25 shirts before that limit increases. As of today, I’m up to four. Dizzying heights, eh?

And as ever, links that Nuzzel doesn’t think are stories: I know that many of my followers are shirt designers or shirt aficionados. But whatever you do, be careful not to get arrested while wearing your on-point niche t-shirt:
