One of the most frequent questions we have been receiving as of late, concerns ARK and Decentralized Finance (“DeFi”). Whether ARK is DeFi or whether ARK offers any sort of DeFi functionality. In order to answer these questions, the topic of DeFi needs to be explored. We will be covering DeFi topics in a multipart series ranging from taxes, to laws, to security, and finally DeFi and ARK. Part one of this series will explore DeFi and Taxes.

What is DeFi?

For those who are unfamiliar with the concept of DeFi, it is built upon one of the inherent ideas behind cryptocurrencies —…

The month of July is behind us and it’s time for our monthly development report. We would like to thank every contributor who has helped us by opening issues, providing solutions or suggesting improvements. Also, don’t forget to 🌟 us on GitHub.

Given the extensive roadmap that we want to tackle this year, it was necessary to bring in more developers to help speed up development. Our newest hire is Edgar, whom most of our community already know under the username ‘dated’.

As our roadmap for this year is packed with new and upcoming products and services (MarketSquare, Deployer, Desktop Wallet v3, Mobile Wallet v2, Core v3, and Platform SDK) we needed more developers who write solid code, have a proven track record of being reliable and are familiar with ARK and all its mechanics. …

Platform SDK, an all-in-one developer toolbox, is a modern solution for developers, hobbyists and businesses, making it simple to interact with different blockchains and projects (not just ARK or ARK-based networks). Despite the popularity of crypto and blockchains in recent years, a lot of projects lack an easy-to-use interface (yes, even Bitcoin) to interact with their specific blockchain network. This drove us to develop the Platform SDK, which will lower the barrier to entry for developers in the crypto and blockchain world. The SDK makes the technology a more pleasant experience and easier to work with.

The new ARK Desktop Wallet has been released. This version addresses the input we received in the last week from the updated ‘Send/Transfer’ modal introduced in the previous version, making it easier to switch between single and multi transfers. There are also more improvements, let’s go over them now.

You can download the ARK Desktop Wallet at https://ark.io/wallet or use the new download feature from within your current wallet (available in v2.7.0+).

What’s New?

  • Improved Single / Multi transfer modal — after the changes introduced in the previous version we have received a lot of reports that normal transfers aren’t as intuitive…

June has ended and it’s time to go over our community developers, their Pull-Requests that have been merged and the bounties they have received. This program runs throughout the year, so it’s never too late to join in.

Be sure to spread the word about our bounty program via social media, blog posts and other creative ways to help get more developers involved and contributing to the ARK Ecosystem, not only improving the codebase but also giving developers a way to learn and earn.

Don’t know what this is about and want to get involved?

Please have a read at https://ark.io/bounties and also look at other larger projects at https://ark.io/projects. If…

A new version of the Desktop Wallet has been released! This release fixes numerous UI glitches and focuses on merging” the multipayment transaction modal with the transfer modal. You can now send both single transfers and multipayment transactions within the same transaction modal, but there’s more so let’s get into it.

With the new wallet being heavily into the development phase, we haven’t forgotten about improving and fixing the current one. As mentioned above, the multipayment modal has been merged with the single transaction modal.

Ledger hardware wallets now support Schnorr signatures. ‘Send’ transactions are now signed using our Schnorr…
