IT’S NOT TIME TO BUILD GOD’S HOUSE YET! REALLY? (PART 1)

TEXT : Haggai 1:1-11

Memory verse
Haggai 1:8
Go up into the mountains and bring down timber and build the house, so that I may take pleasure in it and be honored, says that Lord.

This passage is about a message God sent to Judah through Prophet Haggai.

God stresses that the people of Judah said that it was not yet time to build the house of the Lord! (vs 2)

In vs 3 He went on to ask them if it was time for them to build and stay in their own houses while the house of God remains in ruins?

God then told them to check their ways and see how they have fared,
God went on to tell them in (vs 6)You have sown much, but you have reaped little; you eat, but you do not have enough; you drink, but you do not have your fill; you clothe yourselves, but no one is warm; and he who earns wages has earned them to put them in a bag with holes in it.

God is telling us to fix his house today!! You have been working so hard to take care of yourself! You have tried so hard to make a life for yourself neglecting God! The house of God we are talking about today is your body!!

Don't you now you are the Lord's temple (house)?

1 Corinthians 6:19 says
Do you not know that your body is the temple (the very sanctuary) of the Holy Spirit Who lives within you, Whom you have received [as a Gift] from God? You are not your own.

You body belongs to God! It is his temple!! Have you built a house for God or all you are doing is building one for yourself?

What does it mean to build a house for God?

*Spiritually
Is your body conducive for the Spirit of God to dwell in?
The way you live your life, do you live for him or you do whatever you want to do?
Those bad things you do that are not acceptable to God, simply means you are living his house in ruins!

*Physically
How well do you take care of yourself physically, knowing your body belongs to God and he dwells in it? Do you do all you can to make sure your body is fit for God? Or all you do is eat and do what you want not minding the outcome of your body, God's temple?

God is asking you today, check your ways and see how you have fared, pursuing your own desires, building your own houses and neglecting the house of God?
You have sown much, but you have reaped little; you eat, but you do not have enough; you drink, but you do not have your fill; you clothe yourselves, but no one is warm; and he who earns wages has earned them to put them in a bag with holes in it.

Vs 9 says this
You looked for much [harvest], and behold, it came to little; and even when you brought that home, I blew it away. Why? says the Lord of hosts. Because of My house, which lies waste while you yourselves run each man to his own house [eager to build and adorn it].

God wants to do amazing things in your life! Fix His house and he will fix everything bothering you! Once God lives in you, nothing absolutely nothing can stop you!!

God is telling you today!
Haggai 1:8
Go up into the mountains and bring down timber and build the house, so that I may take pleasure in it and be honored, says that Lord.

Go up into the mountains!!!!
Do whatever it takes to take care of your body! The house of God!!!

*Spiritually
Get right with God!
If it means Fasting, if it means depriving yourself of certain things, go up into the mountain!!! Whatever it takes, just make sure you get right with God!!

*Physically
Keep your body in good shape!
Stop doing whatever harms your body! Do whatever it is to keep your body physically fit for God!

Go up the mountain!!!!!!!

Vs 12 Then Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel and Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest, with all the remnant of the people [who had returned from captivity], listened to and obeyed the voice of the Lord their God [not vaguely or partly, but completely, according to] the words of Haggai the prophet, since the Lord their God had sent him, and the people [reverently] feared and [worshipfully] turned to the Lord.
When the people heard from God, they turned to God wholeheartedly immediately! And God did something!! He aroused their spirit to work!

All God wants is a willing heart! A heart that is ready to turn back to him and he will give you the strength to start fixing his house!!
(Vs 14) And the Lord aroused the spirit of Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people, so that they came and labored on the house of the Lord of hosts, their God,

Prayer:
Father I am very sorry, for abandoning your house and trying to build a life for my self, I have only come to find out that it is not been good for me! Father I whole heartedly turn back to you today. I will do all it takes to fix your house, so help me God!
