Hebrews 12:16(MSG)
Watch out for the Esau syndrome: trading away God's lifelong gift in order to satisfy a short-term appetite.

What is the Esau Syndrome?
Just like the verse describes it, it is trading away God's lifelong gift in other to satisfy a short-term appetite.
It is pushing aside God's command or instructions to satisfy an immediate lust of the flesh.

What we don't know is that, the command God gives us, leads to eternal life, there are blessings attached to these commands. But most of the time we choose to satisfy our flesh rather than hold on to what God has told us to do.
Do you remember the story of Esau and his brother Jacob? Esau sold his birth right for a plate of food! Birth right as first born for a plate of food o! He wouldn't have died if he didn't eat that food but then out of lack of wisdom, in other to satisfy a short-term satisfaction, he sold his most precious asset, HIS FATHER'S BLESSINGS! Most of the time when we study that passage, we think Jacob was cunning and stole the blessing from Esau but in reality, Esau was the one who wanted to steal the blessing from Jacob for Esau has sold that blessing for a plate of food.
Esau because of the urge to satisfy his short-term forgot about the consequences of selling his birth right.

How many times have we chosen to satisfy our short-term appetites, forsaking God's life long blessings. How many times have we chosen to fulfill the lust of the flesh over the command the Spirit of God gives us?
God has called you to be great, and the devil will use every means necessary to stop you from that greatness! The only possible way to do this is through various short-term appetites that will make you miss your way to greatness!

Look at Adam and Eve, for a fruit to satisfy their short-term appetite, they disobeyed God and had to be to driven out of Garden of Eden where they had everything to where the had to labor for everything.

Look at Joseph, for refusing to satisfy a short-term appetite of sleeping wit Portiphas wife, became the Prime Minister of Egypt!( God's long life gift).

Look at Daniel, for refusing to eat the Kings food and bowing down to the gods of Babylon, He was elevated more than the wise men of Babylon. (God's long life gift).

Look at Jesus, He overcame the devils temptations, refusing to satisfy a short-term appetite because He knew God had a life long gift for Him, Now He is sitted at the right hand of God in Heaven.

Every time you are faced with temptations, just know it's the devil trying to give you a plate of food for your birth right!

Refuse to be tempted, set your eyes on God's life long gifts!!!! You are more than a conqueror!

Jesus said in John 12:50
I know that His command leads to eternal life. So whatever I say is just what the Father has told me to say.

Whatever God has told you to do, DO!
Whatever God has ask you to avoid, AVOID!
His commands only leads to eternal LIFE! He has a life long gift for you! Do not forsake it to satisfy your flesh! A short-term appetite.

Hebrews 12:17 says
Afterwards, as you know, when he(Esau) wanted to inherit this blessing, he was rejected. He could bring about no change of mind, though he sought the blessings with tears.

Esau lost the blessings for life! Because of a meal. Stand your ground, always have it in mind that God has a life long gift for you! DO NOT MISS THIS LIFE LONG GIFT!

May God bless you with His life long gifts as you receive GRACE to avoid satisfying your short-term appetite in Jesus name!!!!
