I’ve always tried to take the Seth Godin approach to life — “ Instead of wondering when our next vacation is we should set up a life we don’t need to escape from”

My love of technology, learning and curiosity don’t stop because I am on vacation — they might take a different form or output but I still love to do stuff on vacation. We are both lucky enough to enjoy what we do and have a drive to push ourselves to do more.

Also there is complication that we run so hard during the year that should we stop for vacation and do nothing for a few weeks, we will fall ill and be miserable for a decent chunk of it. I like to schedule interesting stuff during the downtime period to keep me happy and keep the dreaded lurgy at bay.
