Dublin, a Breath of Fresh Air
I live in Dublin for almost 10 months now and must say that changing countries offers you a totally different perspective over the world. I know it’s almost a cliche’, but is sooo true….
Here are a few reasons why you should choose Dublin as a travel destination:
- The Coastal Villages. Dublin has the most extraordinary landscapes you will ever see in a capital city and they are only 30 minutes away from the city center!!! 30 minutes away! Go and visit the posh site of Dublin, in the south: Bray & Dalkey. If you want to experience more the local flavour of Dublin, go to Howth, in north. If in the entire Europe judges north as being more posh than south, in Dublin things are upside down. North is for “workers” while South is for the “aristocracy”. Still both poles are amazing!
- Walk till you drop. You can literally walk until you drop because there are no barriers & few cars. You will see cars during rush hours (8:30 to 9:30 AM and from 5 to 6 PM. Nevertheles, if you’re a walker, they won’t bother you at all. The city has lots of secret gems, monuments & stories, you can easily discover on Visit Dublin Facebook page.
- The city has it’s own pace & Dubliners have their own unique personality. During Friday evenings you will feel like the number of pubs in the city is underestimated, as they are overcrowded. Dubliners love to socialise and during a normal Friday, after working hours they will go for a pint. They might make you join their conversation. But then during the week things move in very humane way, there’s no rush & no hassle. Quite the opposite from what I saw in the americans movies about New York or San Francisco.
But, who am I to judge a city I am living in for such a short period of time?
