Well the elephant in the room that isn’t mentioned here is that not only do movies suck but people have stopped going and not mentioned here is the fact that tv is not picking up the slack. Sure the quality of tv might be better (debatable) but there is little to no evidence that people are flocking to TV instead. In fact, TV audiences are becoming so fragmented and declining to such a level that one one wonders if in 20–30 years anybody will actually be watching hour-long dramas and 30-minute sitcoms. Because the younguns coming up sure aren’t showing any interest.

On the plus side, the future of gifs and 6 second videos seems relatively secure!
