I was wondering about this this year too! The last few years we’ve taken our taxes to HR Block & a CPA my in-laws use, but each time they tell us we don’t need to itemize, just use the standard deduction. Last year especially, after becoming an independent contractor and working out of my home, that didn’t seem to make sense. Shouldn’t I have more things to take as deductions? (Bills, home office use, etc?) Oh, and we’ve never gotten a refund. Two working adults with a mortgage, cars, etc and no refund in years.
