As an Ocala general contractor specializing in home andcommercial construction, we at Boutwell Contracting & Development like to keep our clients and readers of this blog apprised of our current construction projects.

Today we’re putting the spotlight on a commercial construction project we recently completed in Ocala. This is a commercial build-out of a management office at Market Street at Heath Brook, a popular shopping center located west of Interstate 75 on State Road 200. It includes such stores as Dillards, Barnes & Noble, Old Navy and Dick’s Sporting Goods.

The Entrance

You’ll love the layout of this office space, which is 2,857 square feet. The reception area and conference room are both located up front, receiving all of the great natural light that comes from the door and windows. Walking towards the individual offices, you’ll notice the window offering a view of the conference room. You’re sure to be impressed by this commercial build-out.

Commercial Build-Out Project

We started with this bare, unfinished space with concrete walls, concrete floor and a glass front. First, we built a fire wall that separates this office from adjacent spaces. This is a standard requirement for commercial build-out projects as it offers an extra layer of protection from the surrounding businesses.

Framing and More

Next came the metal framing, which is often used in commercial build-out projects because it is more fire-resistant than wood. Metal framing establishes all of the interior walls, as well as the interior windows used for the conference room and security office. Then subcontractors came in and did all the plumbing, electrical and air conditioning for this space, as well as the overhead sprinkler system, which is another fire-prevention device.

Walls and Ceiling

Dry wall came next for all the interior walls. And a lower ceiling was installed, which hides all of the electrical, plumbing and air ducts above. The ceiling in the entry area starts at 10 feet and then moves to 9 feet down the main hallway and individual offices. What do you think of this commercial build-out?

Finishing Touches

Walking through the office now you can see that all the finishing touches are complete, from paint and wallpaper to flooring, baseboards, ceiling tiles and lights. Looking up, you’ll notice all the light fixtures and sprinklers in the long central hallway that leads to all of the individual offices.

Laminate plank is the flooring chosen for the entrance and main hallway. It offers the look of wood, but requires less maintenance and is perfect for an office. All of the individual offices and conference room are carpeted. This office also features a break room with kitchen and a table and chairs, as well as restrooms and a large filing area, located off the main hallway.

With the tall ceilings, you’re sure to notice the tall individual office doors used throughout the office. Inside some of the individual offices, you’ll notice the built in credenza-like shelving along the back wall.
