Guardians of the Galaxy

#MovieReview

If there was only one thing I wanted from the experience of watching Guardians of the Galaxy, it was that it would give me that sci-fi vision that isn’t some variation of every other going rate sci-fi vision. (read- Star Wars, Star Trek)

I wanted Ice Pirates.

That’s right. I wanted the feel of a 30 year old movie that was ahead of its time and maybe too far ahead to grasp the appeal I felt it’s always deserved.
Ice Pirates was an awesome bowl of action, sci-fi, and commentary mixed with a giant helping of slapstick. (It’s a comedy, after all)

Despite not having quite the amount of slapstick, (although it does get a bit silly) I think Guardians of the Galaxy not only delivers what’s now the status quo for Marvel movies; but delivered a glimpse into what sci-fi can become by actualizing, and making relevant, the cosmic portion of the Marvel universe that even the most hardcore Marvel comics fans have a tough time getting into.

Most of the reviews that were shared by some that I consider “more critical” made mention of some aspects that might be considered a flaw in other movies, but isn't distracting enough in a movie such as GotG. And they were right. GotG is a roller coaster ride of the sort where you might notice a bump, but you forget it completely once you've made the next turn, drop point or finish altogether and basically just remember the loopty loops.

I considered it more fun than all of the Iron Man films, maybe even the two Thors, but just under the Caps and Avengers. (Cap is my favorite, whatta ya gonna do?) It should definitely be seen in theatres.
