The casual characterization of Captain Myles Keogh as a “mercenary” is a slur on the memory and character of gallant soldier and loyal Irish-American hero of the Civil War. Indeed, having visited Gettysburg, one who claims to have studied history should know that Keogh was brevetted for bravery at that very same battle.
