Find the Funny

After many years of unfulfilled New Year’s Resolutions, I decided to embark on a new process of renewal. For the past few years I have opted to skip the resolutions and instead set a personal mantra to live by. Over the years, these mantras have become my core principals, guiding all aspects of my life.

Make Your Life a Story Worth Telling

In 2014, I aimed to make my life a story worth telling.

One day all of our possessions will fade away, but the strength of our legacy and the story of our life will remain.

Get Outside of Your Comfort Zone

In 2015, my mantra was to get outside of my comfort zone.

When you go beyond the places that make you feel safe, you enable yourself to truly discover who you are and what makes you feel most alive.

Don’t Schvitz The Small Stuff

This year, I did my best to not let the little things get to me.

The people with the brightest minds and biggest hearts choose to see the world in a powerful, positive perspective. That is what paves the way to create a massive impact.

Find the Funny

This year’s mantra is find the funny: a vow to actively seek humor in everyday life.

If we are friends on Facebook, you probably have seen my series of Starbucks posts. From the interactions with my barista to people watching in the café, I have a plethora of funny Starbucks stories.

People often tell me “I can’t believe that happened to you, nothing funny every happens to me!”

Well friends, that’s bullshit. Those who say that simply have not cultivated the habit of looking for the unexpected, crazy or ironic things that happen everyday.

The truth is, life is literally abound in comedy; you just have to look for it. It’s all about perspective. If you actively search for humor, you’ll notice that it’s all around us. There are tons of funny little things that happen each day, but until you change your mindset, you won’t notice them.

The key to finding the funny is simple: have a positive attitude, don’t take things too seriously and put down your phone! Real life passes you by when you are staring at a screen.

In 2017, I vow to find the funny and laugh more often. After all, laughter brings happiness. And the world could always use more of that. xo

What will your mantra be this year?

Wishing you all a joyous holiday season and a Happy New Year! All the best in 2017.

One clap, two clap, three clap, forty?

By clapping more or less, you can signal to us which stories really stand out.
