I get the usage of list comprehension and generators, and agree about them making things cleaner, because they are easy to follow and understand.

But, I question you on the last one. Does that actually make the code easier to read? For a lot of programmers, accumulate is not readily apparent what it is doing, and the for-loop seems more explicit.
