A Place For Chocolate Girls…

From Dark to White Chocolate, and every shade in between, my site is for you.

So…I’ve spent the last several months in transition. And while this has been a great experience that I have enjoyed, I couldn’t help but wonder why I still felt something was missing. I mean, outside of being single (which I have also grown to enjoy), I had everything I wanted. I decided an inventory of my life was necessary. I moved 900 miles away from home, I started a new, much less stressful job, and I opened myself up to dating, and actively pursuing some semblance of a social life. I was also writing again, mostly short stories. And while this has been a great experience that I have enjoyed, something was missing. I mean, outside of being single (which I have also grown to enjoy), I had and was doing everything I wanted.

After some more digging, I realized what it was. I hadn’t completely achieved what I wanted from writing. Yes, I was writing short stories and working on my novel again, but that wasn’t my end goal. My end goal is to start a publishing company that focuses on making sure the voices of the marginalized were heard. I want to be able to make sure they have the necessary resources and support to be able to create and publish their pieces.

As of right now, this is not exactly reasonably plausible for me to achieve, but I decided a step in the right direction would be to create a blog and podcast for just that. To highlight the experiences of women, particularly women of color, who I consider to be the most unprotected and underestimated of society, and create a sort of guide. A guide that could give the basics of how other women that look like you have navigated everyday situations. A place to learn both the similarities (and differences) in things that happen to us all. And a podcast to let you really get down and dirty and in depth on each subject.

What I’ve created is called The Chocolate Girl’s Guide to Everything, a blog I plan to use to openly discuss things chocolate girls of all shades experience, as well as a corresponding podcast that will take the topics discussed in the blog and further dissect them in a hilarious, raw, and rough breakdown featuring a guest “expert” on the topic. Be a part of my dream, and subscribe here for the latest updates on my blog and to hear the premier episode of the Chocolate Girls: Raw-Uncut Podcast.
