How Artificial Intelligence is set to become the ‘face’ of your enterprise

Recently, Google announced “Google Duplex”, a new Assistant feature powered by AI for conducting natural conversations to carry out real-world tasks over the phone. Google Duplex can help you schedule an appointment at a hair salon or make a reservation at your favorite restaurant. The Assistant uses AI and Machine Learning to process and respond to human beings. The system makes conversational experiences as natural as possible.

This smart bot-calling service may find its entry into the call centers soon. The next customer service representative you speak to could be a smart-bot.

This is an impressive example of how quickly AI Cognitive systems are advancing, and how we can expect them set to become the ‘face’ of your enterprise and affect your everyday lives in the future.

What are Cognitive Services?

Cognitive Services are a set of intelligent Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) that allow systems to speak, hear, see, understand and interpret human needs. The Cognitive Services APIs are grouped into the following

  • Search — Uses machine learning for web searches
  • Speech — Helps improve speech recognition, convert audio into text
  • Language — Understand sentences and intent, evaluate sentiments
  • Vision — Understand the content of any images and videos
  • Knowledge — Identifies research journals

Cognitive Services APIs also work well with the Bot Framework. These Cognitive Services which are part of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is playing a significant role in customer experience, automation and business transformation.

According to a recent study, global cognitive services market is set to grow from USD 2.59 billion in 2018 to USD 15.28 billion by 2023.

The growing use of cognitive services across various industries and increasing demand for intelligent APIs to build smarter applications is expected provide the opportunities for the cognitive services market.

With the work being done by our partners and tech-giants like Microsoft’s Cortana, Google’s Duplex and Apple’s expanded Siri functionality, Cognitive AI services are quickly spanning multiple industries and functions to become a primary customer interface to the business.

It won’t be long before realistic computer-generated images like the ones shown below created by NVIDIA using their Generative Adversarial Network (GAN), combined with real-time image manipulation (think Apple’s ‘animojis’) will be able to take cognitive systems data and create a comfortable, human-like interaction with your customers.

Generative adversarial networks (GANs) are deep neural networks consisting of a generative network and a discriminative network. These two networks together to provide the high-level simulation of conceptual tasks. GANs have the potential to create systems that learn more with less involvement from humans.

GAN generated realistic images are created by computers based on a reference dataset of human face images.

The value to the enterprise in making any customer interaction highly predictable, and nearly frictionless is immense. All the technologies necessary to achieve this are already in late development, and solutions providers like WinWire Technologies has been developing implementation experience for the last few years.

WinWire helps enterprises across various industries in developing AI strategies using Microsoft’s Machine Learning, Cognitive Services, Bot Framework and Azure Automation.

WinWire, for example, has been working with several large enterprises to develop AI and Interactive Voice (IV) technologies that automates voice and chat interactions behind the scenes. The systems speed up internal business communication, while also greatly improving employee and customer experience.
