inspiration + design
We spent the majority of 2012 and 2013 researching and developing our brand and our designs. After pouring over tons of sketches, we began to cut and sew our first pieces, preparing for our online store launch in May 2013.

Our inspiration for set | 1 was a combination of 1970's prints, athletic looks inspired by boxing and karate, Japanese aesthetics, and nautical moods.

We sketched and sketched pieces inspired from our mood for that first season. We wanted relaxed and comfortable looks that could take someone from the couch to the gym and to the grocery store. Everyday pieces that were easy to wear, while at the same time offered a subtle clean design aesthetic.

Bright colors, playful prints, and focus on line was the base for these pieces.

We found 1970's polyester mens button down shirts. We loved the prints and wanted to re-purpose these for our shorts.

Our focus on bottoms was the Danny short. We wanted this to be a staple item in all of our collections and the base fit for our shorts | pants.

We love the negative space in the neckline of Richard’s tank. It’s a slightly new take on a V neck shape. The armholes were lowered for a more athletic feel.

Heath’s hoody and Robby’s V both took inspiration from martial arts uniforms. Both made from 100% cotton jersey, we wanted them to be very comfortable and the fit to be looser so the pieces could be layered with more form fitting tops underneath.

David’s shirt made from 100% cotton jersey with front pockets and center front hook and eye tape closure.

Danny shorts in 100% cotton jersey floral print.
