Social Justice Bullies: The Authoritarianism of Millennial Social Justice

“Bullies” is a good term for it. Never in my life have I come across such athoritarian minded people, not even in my home the Bible Belt. I went to college hoping that academia would offer an escape from the stifilng conservatism of my hometown, and after three years, I can honestly say that I don’t see much of a difference between the want-to-be-theocrats and the social justice warriors of today. I’m liberal (always have been since I can remember) and I actually benefit in inumerable ways from the identity politics of their system by virtue of being a POC and a woman. But it didn’t take long for me to be severely turned off by my peers’ near constant demonization of the perpetual oppressor “straight white men,” and the constant calls for athoritarian edicts to stifle art that they don’t like as opposed to making their own (the video game debate is a good one). Very nice article that points this out very well.
