This piece was originally written for the wonderful Screen Education before it sadly went on indefinite hiatus.

Alice Guy-Blaché, the first woman filmmaker, was forgotten by the industry she helped to establish. The documentary film, Be Natural: The Untold Story of Alice Guy-Blaché (Pamela B. Green, 2018) is an investigative narrative, searching to uncover Guy-Blaché’s forgotten legacy and the journey toward her reclamation. With the growing awareness of gender inequality in the film industry, Be Natural serves as a timely reminder that women have long struggled to be recognised as creative powerhouses. …

In 2018 we, the Education Experiences team at Museums Victoria, wanted to do something a little different with our virtual learning program so we began exploring options where we could test and trail aspects of digital museum learning. We wanted to develop a project that:

We worked with the Horsham College Year 10 cohort over 9 weeks which involved more than 15 virtual conference sessions; a visit to Horsham; 2 teacher professional learning sessions and an extensive student production camp at ACMI. …
