Beautiful article.

Check out some recent footage of Gord Downie of The Tragically Hip, The Man Who Walks Among The Stars. He’s a one man revolution in touch. He kisses men, holds their hands, full body hugs them with great love, and they do the same in return. His example opens them up, gives them permission to exchange the necessities of touch, connection, and love between men.

In this clip you can see a bit of what I mean. This is during their farewell tour of Canada after his diagnosis. This is at the end of the Hamilton show and he’s hugging and kissing his band members:

This clip is just beautiful and interesting. His primal scream, his agony, the suffering of the world, all the love:

I don’t know the story behind his affectionate, loving touch, but I can imagine he came to the same conclusion you did — men need to love and touch each other for their own psycho-spiritual and physical health. Humans require loving touch. Period.
