This article should be translated to other languages, because I think it’s been a problem in the whole world, this idea that teachers should be impartial. That’s impossible! Not even the media is and shouldn’t be. In Brazil, we’re facing the same problem. I’m a teacher assistent and I was feeling afraid of bringing facts to the classroom to discuss social issues because the facts were obviously against the government. BUT THEY WERE FACTS! I can’t say the government isn’t racist, when almost 70% of poor people in Brazil are black. I can’t say brazilian government fights for women’s right when a women is raped in every 11 minutes in Brazil or that a woman is killed every two hours. We can’t go against FACTS. Thank you so much for making me feel not alone in this world and bringing me the hope that, together, we can change this situation. That we can discuss both sides with good arguments based on FACTS not merely opinions.
