Confessions of An Xbox Consumer Since 2006

Ive had an ‘Xbox’ product in my house as my main gaming console since 2006. I’m in love with the community, the controller, the support, and the online services.

I just became a ‘Playstation 4’ owner. Why? Not because ‘Xbox’ made me mad or some other similar reason. Because more and more of the games I actually play and become “addicted” to playing are Playstation First.

This means the content is delivered with priority to ‘Playstation’ and then at a later date on the ‘Xbox’ and other platforms. Alot of times this also means only official support from eSports leagues as well.

Probably the largest publisher that comes to mind is ‘Activision’. They release games that I’m sure you have heard of, even if you aren’t ad avid gamer. For instance, ‘Call of Duty’ and ‘Destiny’.

Two years ago I watched most all of my friends and all of the professional ‘Call of Duty’ players switch over to ‘Playstation 4' for ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops 3’. And many were still waiting to purchase a “Next Gen” console and decided to buy the ‘Playstation 4’ to get the exclusive content for ‘Destiny’.

Eventually, all the ‘Call of Duty’ content came out on the ‘XboxOne’, but not before it has at least 30 days on the ‘Playstation 4’ exclusively. This wasn’t the case with ‘Destiny’, the ‘Playstation 4’ version contained access to exclusive map areas and game events that would never release on the ‘XboxOne’.

After a year of waiting it out further, the remainder of my online shooter friends moved to ‘Playstation’. I witnessed ‘Infinite Warfare’ do poorly and the surge of popularity towards ‘Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered’. This prompted ‘Activision’ decided to release a return to the “Boots on the Ground” movement system the game series began with. They also announced the game would be Playstation first and the competitive gaming leagues would be on Playstation first as well.

I finally caved. This summer I purchased a used ‘PS4' and pre-ordered ‘Call of Duty: World War 2'. I play many nights a week now with my old friends on the ‘Playstation Network’ playing ‘Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered’.

Dear ‘Microsoft’ and my friends that work for them and represent them:

I love you. I will always love you. I still have 2 of your ‘XboxOne’ consoles. I appreciate how hard you have worked since your ‘XboxOne’ release, especially heeding your vocal consumer base’s requests. But, please consider this story in the future when fighting for that ‘Activision’ exclusive deal. I do miss playing shooters on your controller. It’s so much better than the ‘Playstation’ controller.

Sincerely,

Bruno
