Leadership: It Is A Responsibility

The topic of Leadership is something that many people like to rumble with on a daily basis. We get caught up in the mindset of how in the world is this person a leader?! This comes into play in many aspects of life, whether it be work, sports, or politics to name a few.

Being a leader and being in a leadership role is something that is given to you by someone. What people tend to forget is that they were chosen to be in this role for a reason. I can’t tell you the number of times I see leaders in all aspects of work, home, sports etc not taking this role seriously and understanding the impact that they have.

What is a true leader? This means understanding that there are people looking and watching you at all times whether you think they are or not. How you act and conduct yourself is translated into people watching you. If you are in a leadership role I challenge you to take a step back and really watch how your behaviors and actions impact your team. I can guarantee that someone you are leading is trying to imitate you in someway shape or form.

This thing we call “Leadership” is a responsibility and we need to start understanding that how we act and conduct ourselves weighs on how others will act and conduct themselves. Not everyone is meant to be a leader, but those who are chosen to be leaders must understand the responsibility that is at hand.

A quote I enjoy about leadership is: “If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more, and become more, you are a leader” John Quincy Adams.

We need to understand that when we talk about Leadership as being a responsibility that it’s not just referring to a business. Leadership is involved in all phases of life.

I challenge everyone to think about how their actions impact the team, whether that team be at work, home, on the field etc.
