Hi @phcreative, how do I keep from losing Twitter followers now that I’m a new mom and can’t be online as frequently? #AskPh

Very interesting question this one and I’m going to disappoint you to start with but stick with me because they’re the story ends well.
Unfortunately, if you put less effort into your Twitter community you’re going to get less out. If you take your foot off the gas what, you’re experiencing is natural. This isn’t easy; you have to put effort in there to maintain and unfortunately there is no silver bullet. There are a few silver linings to be had here. First of all, spending time with your kids, rather people on Twitter much better use of your time as a recent dad, go for it, really enjoy it and don’t be distracted too much. But if you’re reliant on Twitter and you’re really worried about losing that community, there are few things that you can do but it does mean committing like an hour a day or setting some time aside because if you stop completely then it’s just not going to work. But you can get smarter with your time, so check out how much content you are scheduling, so maybe you can produce half an hour’s worth of content curation, not just content curating. Use other people’s content and curate it really well and schedule it perhaps in-between feeds or when the little guy or girl is asleep, use that time effectively and schedule content so it seems like you are engaging throughout the day.
Health warning on that — if it’s just all scheduled content it’s still not going to quite work for you.
But, getting smarter with your time is definitely something you need to look at. Ultimately, you need to put some time in and you get out of it what you can. The other thing you can do is look at the content you’ve produced over the last six months, 12 months, two years, some of it will be evergreen and you will be able to reuse it. Lots of people produce brilliant content, they put it out there and then they get some value right away but then they fail to keep giving that value to their audience month on month, week on week and that’s a mistake because typically 5% of your audience might see it the first time, 95% of your whole community would love your content don’t even know it exists. So repurpose some your old content, it’s something that could to help to bridge that gap as well but ultimately find some time in between some feeds, when the little one is sleep, find some time, little and often, be smart with your time but you’ve got to invest in your community. If you do, you can maintain it and when you do get more time, concentrate on growing it but be smart with your time, repurpose your content and curate other people’s great content. Let me know how you get on.
