I love this question and the reason I love this question is the way it’s phrased and positioned tells me that you’re going about it in the right way. How do you get inbound links whilst giving great value to your customers? Brilliant!

The answer is simple: produce wonderful, attractive, remarkable content that people will talk about and share, and the most basic of content might be that you produce a blog and it might be slightly controversial or reveals new insights. Or explain something in great detail or in a simple way that people find useful, so people will read that, they will share it and talk about it, and create inbound links naturally.

Now, if you know quite a lot about your customers and you look at their personas and segment the audience you can get even smarter. You could produce specific infographics or even little widgets that sit on people’s websites that link back to you. But, the magic, the key ingredient is what you said, producing content that is valuable for your customer. I would challenge you to think beyond that. How to produce content that is valuable to your costumer’s customer because if you crack that, suddenly your customers are going to use whatever you produce, infographic, a widget, calculator, a great white paper, a simple blog, they are going to use that to promote to their customers because it’s highly valuable to them and then you are compounding the value, you’re thinking smart, you’re putting your customers first, you’re producing great content and you will be rewarded with brilliant inbound links as a result. So crack on and go for it!
