This was one of the best articles I’ve read in a while. An optimistic story told in clear headed, grounded way. It was a perfect retort to another article a friend sent me recently from the Atlantic about “The End of Work.” You know, that old song and dance. As a New Yorker who has traveled through and has friends from Appalachia, I also get tired of the condescension and stereotyping. This is a great story of humanity’s infinite capacity to adapt, and rather than help or charity, most people just need a chance.
