This is probably the 4th draft since my first post hoping I actually get to publish this one. Here’s the thing, I had initially foreseen my medium posts to be highly inclined to some sort of technical format, strictly (or NOT) focusing on the tech space.
However, of late I’m driven by the urge to write about anything and everything. This nonetheless doesn’t make me a writer, Nope. You can call me anything but a writer. Perhaps a Talkpreneur with a font. (Add that to your dictionary Guise). I don’t even know why I’m doing this because I’m already cringing at the thought of someone reading this. Ugh.

KENYANS ON TWITTER NEED TO CHILL. UGGH.
So recently there was some fuss on Twitter on how guys comment on international matters while “supposedly” abandoning their local loads. First of all this is a lie. We are always talking about our dispiriting government, the dwindling economy, cool peep Willie Mutunga (Niaje Watunguyaz) and the likes. Seemingly, the one time I decide to comment on the state of affairs in the US all of a sudden I’m not patriotic and a downright victim of Neocolonialism ? Neocolonialism, Wow. This reasoning is from #oomf on twitter.
Social media is powered by the internet. The internet being an interconnection of devices globally. I can talk about Kenya, Uganda, Russia & the UK if I deem it right to do so. As long as I’m not oppressing (for lack of a better word) someone on the internet, then where is the fault ? If being diverse doesn’t tickle your fancy brother please , take seat and learn a thing or two.

My header image is rather self-explanatory. Just let it go. YES LET IT GO. Whatever it is that’s holding you back, let that ship sail. We are not getting any younger, we ought to do what we have to do, and that’s the thing, each and everyone of us has something they ought to do. You just need to take a step back and find yourself, it actually is possible to find yourself in this chaos we call life. Take your fears and throw them out the window. Do whatever the hell makes you happy, if you think you can be ten things in one who we are to stop you ? Go forth & be great, it’s all in your hands. NO SUCH THING AS ‘KEYS TO SUCCESS’
More often than not, you will stumble upon articles/books that are screaming the words ’10 keys to success’. Do yourself a favor and drop that book because there are no such things as keys. Keys are more or less shortcuts, panya routes that just leave you stranded in the middle of the journey. This has often been equated to working smart. Here’s some little advice: Just put in effort in whatever it is you’re doing, the rest will fall into place. Work your ass off (not overworking), don’t be fooled by the hacks people have falsely derived from Bill gates, Elon Musk and the likes, yes they dropped out of school blah blah blah … but they sure did work their asses off. If you’ve read their biographies you know what I’m talking about. Just put in your fair part of effort in whatever you’re pursuing and things will work out for you. If I’m making absolutely no sense to you please read this medium post There are no fucking keys to success and if by chance I’ve already bored you with this post please read the post linked above even if you won’t finish reading this one.

This is a question to you readers. Is it possible to be about something by definition and not identification ? For instance, lemme pick feminism, can I be a feminist by the virtue of the definition in that I support/stand for equality for both sexes in all aspects of life but I don’t really associate and recognize myself with feminists ? A penny for your thoughts :) Please respond to this by leaving your comments down below.
DO SOMETHING
Social entrepreneurship. This is the attempt to address social and environmental problems by use of business techniques and technology. This is something that I’m particularly very passionate about. Here’s my plea to you: Please try and do something that will attempt to solve any hiccups in the society. Money is not the end game, far from it. I know we also need to eat, but trust me, the money will come. I know of someone who is running some movement whose end game is to enable the youth make more money. Ridiculous. The economy as it is has enough money circulating, instead let us take up challenges that will address vital issues that affect us . Recently, during angelhack (a hackathon by Twitter), a group of millennials decided to create a system that deals with garbage collection and disposal in the community, another group made a system to address reckless driving in the matatu industry. These are problems that we face in our day to day lives, the government has slacked in tackling them and I know millennials can take up the challenge. Look at what Valuraha, AbacusKenya, YoungPossible is doing, we need more projects like that from the youth. Elon musk has spearheaded this concept with Tesla, solar city and spaceX, I hope to see more of this locally.
FAMILY IS ALL WE GOT ..
My weekends, Sunday to be precise involves hanging out with weird creatures (friends), this has not been the case for the past 2 months instead I’ve been chilling with the fam. They’ve been the best weekends yet! My younger brother has instilled in me his silly nature and I like it, it helps me a lot in school. My mom with the mushenes that I absolutely have no interest in. My dad with his ‘motivating’ stories of how he wasn’t visited in school and wore one pair of shoes for four years. Sigh. They offer the best company anyways. I’m home alone on a Sunday as I type this and I wish I followed my mum for her mushene escapades. They’ve made me appreciate life in a way that I cannot fathom. Moral of the story: Make time for family, they’re literally all we got.

Lastly, I would like to make a plea to all you content creators on Medium. If you’re looking for somewhere to post your thesis please look up Google scholar when you can. I cannot with your 50 mins reads, sorry. Haha. Making my 5–6 min reads feel like an absolute waste of time. 😭 Okay, I’m done.
