When the concrete cracks, these capsules come in contact with water and capsule covers are disintegrated. Bacteria comes out of its dormant state and produces limestone after feeding itself on surrounding food to fill the cracks. This way, it can protect any concrete structure for over 200 years!
Aerogel is made from polymer gel by replacing its liquid portion with gas. It is also called Frozen Smoke or Solid Smoke owning to its smoke like appearance in nature. But it is solid, extremely light and it has amazing thermal resistance. Aerogel material is being widely used in the construction domain as an insulation material. They have applications in piping, roofing, window panes, etc.
Pollution Absorbing Concrete
This type of concrete uses Titanium Dioxide as its ingredient which catalyses the decomposition of pollutants (NOx). These pollutants are mainly produced by automobiles and burning fossil fuels which are responsible for creating smog that engulfs cities like Beijing. When pollutants come in contact with this special type of concrete, a chemical reaction is set off that accelerates the decomposition of pollutants and convert the same into salt. If we use this concrete in the entire city, it can reduce the extent of the pollutants by 50%.
Concrete Cloth is a concrete sheet in the form of a roll which can be unfolded and can be used quickly on slopes and culvert lining. This concrete cloth can also be cut in various shapes and can be used to produce irregular installations. After the desired shape is achieved, it is drenched with water and it becomes rigid in small amount of time. There is no need to have extra equipment to mix the concrete or there is no need to have concrete ingredients like cement, aggregates, etc.
