To the Zinc community,

From ancient Greece’s democracy to Google’s revolutionary work culture, or Ethereum’s development community, the most charismatic organisations take leadership in pioneering new forms of social cooperation. They not only challenge conventional wisdom, but can be incredibly empowering for the participants who are involved in the project and instrumental to the project’s long term success.

Blockchain technology will replace the traditional models of building large scale projects. Projects such as Bitcoin & Ethereum have demonstrated that the tokenised models can marry large scale capital coordination with decentralised governance.

This model of decentralised value creation — dubbed as the “crypto-cooperative” — will play a crucial role in the development of decentralised value creation. No doubt, CVT must align the interests of team members, users and community participants alike in order to succeed.

Encarta was defeated by Wikipedia despite having better topic coverage and higher accuracy. Why? The community-driven ethos helped wikipedia to attract the huge group of contributors needed to help an information sharing project succeed.

Zinc Community & social channels

our community has been engaged, committed and thoughtful. Our most active channel being telegram and we recognise that community members enjoy the immediacy of the the platform. On telegram, users have the opportunity to engage directly with the Zinc team and other members of the community.

Number of telegram users:

Number of telegram users v.s. time

Many of you have supported the project financially and many have spent time and effort to promote the project and educate other members of the community. Somewhat realising the vision of crypto-cooperatives.

We’re now full steam ahead on with our product development and likely we will take a more of a hands off role when it comes to telegram. However, we aim to continually nurture our community.

What would this involve?

Rest assured, this would not mean we completely abandon our community, however, we cannot be on call 24/7 like we were during the crowd sale. We will still dip in and out of the channel but we will not actively be involved in every conversation.

We still feel nevertheless our community is a crucial part of the Zinc journey and we want the community to feel empowered to contribute to the positive development of the project.

We aim to do the following:

  1. Daily hashtags: this will involve us updating the /Daily /research /technical tags for you to engage in the project.
  2. Weekly catchup: we foresee this to be a chance for the community to get to know the team members better and a more light hearted development. It could be a periscope live stream of the project.
  3. Bi-weekly project update: although it is not realistic to have notable developments of the project every week, we will aim to give to serious news this we could do a live AMA of the project

Big picture

To sum up whilst we recognise it is unrealistic to respond to every request and inadvisable to reflect everyone’s opinion, harnessing the enthusiasm of the community will be crucial in the long term success of the project.

You will be able to do this in three main ways:

  1. DAO: we are looking to put an existing DAO framework where you will be able to vote on important issues that matters.
  2. Social channel to actively engage with the team
  3. Developer friendly APIs and bug bounties.

Ultimately, the direction how the community is in your hands as much as it is in ours. We will continue to listen to your feedback and believe the you are a crucial part of the future of Zinc.

Let’s transform the world of work now!

Yours sincerely,
The Zinc team
