Unconditional Love of God
“…Glory to the Light of the world. Behold your King, Behold Messiah, Emmanuel…” — Lauren Daigle
Mankind is one of God’s great creation granted with the gift of choice and free will. In essence, this means that the Almighty God gave humanity the choice to serve Him, the choice to follow and believe in Him. God does not force His will upon us; rather we must freely give our love and freely want His love and guidance. As a believer in Christ, I have always pondered on this, King David in Psalms 8:4 of the Bible phrased it perfectly: “What is man that thou art mindful of him and the son of man that thou visit him?”
However, despite our imperfections, despite our mistakes, God loves us. There is no criterion to call on Him, we just have to come to Him as we are and He is fully prepared to transform our lives. For it is written “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.” John 3:16–17.
Therefore:
If Christ was to judge, Peter who denied Him would not have led the church.
If Christ had no mercy, Paul who persecuted many Christians would not have spread the Gospel to the world.
If Christ hated those who crucified Him, He would not have prayed to the Father to forgive them.
Therefore, what we can conclude is that the Love of God for mankind is unconditional and His mercy endures forever.
