Deep neural nets and the purpose of life

I am certain that “consciousness” is my neural network observing itself. That is my perceptual reality algorithm and I can’t force that bit of code into adjacent perceptual reality fields. I can use data and attempt to reprogram their networks, but only if I have access to all their existing algorithms. Otherwise, I’m relegated to exploiting cognitive biases and slipping viruses into the network between the gaps they leave. lol

Neural networks are purpose driven. They are carefully assigned specific information to look out for and spring into action when criterion are sufficiently met.

We are “observant and predictive environmental manipulation machines”, evolved for the express purpose of tripping genetically programmed biochemical excitation and satiation triggers. The ensuing raw data throughput to achieve each “trigger” is inconsequential to the efficiency of the energetic processes required to trip it.

We want to satisfy all of our neural networks simultaneously using the least amount of energy expenditure. Pain is a biological message delivery system telling the organism that it is annoyingly being forced into pouring energy into potentially avoidable system repair functions. This holds true for existential pain as well as physical.

I believe the algorithm of life is to …— Seek or create a perpetual, pain-free environment using the least amount of energy possible and reproduce in case you fail.

This process catalyzes creativity through invention and artistry — invention to manipulate the painful environmental barriers and artistry to counter the existential ones.

I also believe this is why birth rates are falling in developed countries. We are relatively pain-free in comparison to our ancestors.

If we ever give artificial neural networks actual “pain” receptor algorithms, we would become monsters. But I think it is important to define and create “empathy” for pain within the algorithms of artificial neural networks if we are ever expected to trust them fully.

As a side note — I believe that money is an increasingly weakening invention of artificial energy scarcity and is almost obsolete… neural networks only require energy, agency and time.

Agency was democratized through the internet. That leaves energy as the last barrier to negentropy.
