Meet Jon Barr, a 33-year-old Travel Videographer based in NYC — and a testicular cancer survivor. Jon has amassed a large following on YouTube chronicling his travel destinations — and it was on location in Mexico City just last year when Jon discovered he had testicular cancer. After experiencing a sharp pain shooting up from his groin, his girlfriend insisted they go to the hospital. An ultrasound detected a tumor and they flew back to NYC for treatment. He is currently living cancer-free.

Jon’s advice to other men is “You’re not invincible, I don’t care how athletic or in-shape you are. Listen to your body if it’s telling you something. And cherish your health, you don’t realize how important it is to you until there’s a problem.”

Of his battle, Jon says, “What really matters to you becomes apparent when you’re stripped of your health.”

Today, Jon is still traveling the world and giving us travel tips, tricks and an inside look at the world’s most beautiful places (He’s currently in Morocco!). Thank you, Jon, for sharing your story and raising awareness about testicular cancer — the most common cancer in men who are between the ages of 18–35. Follow him on Instagram @here.be.barr or on his YouTube channel Here Be Barr.
