There seem to be some oversights and incorrect information in the article. The 38R is not a new line, it was a renaming of the long existing 38L line.

More importantly, it seems flat out wrong to say that Dogpatch and Mission Bay don’t have light rail when the T runs through both of those neighborhoods. The T also touches the northern edge of Hunter’s Point according to the boundaries on Google Maps. You could even say that Park Merced has light rail (kinda) with the stop in front of SF State.
