California Women’s List —

For many of us, it’s been a very difficult week. We feel your great sense of disappointment and loss. We cried, woke up in a fog and cried some more.

This is personal.

We put forth one of the most qualified, respected women in our history on the national stage — and she lost. She lost to misogyny, to racism, and to inexperience. Our voices and the values that we hold true felt rejected.

We hope that you have taken the time this week to grieve — and that you rest this weekend so that you can stand back up.

Because believe it or not, there were some glass ceilings shattered across the country on November 8th:

The number of women of color in the U.S. Senate quadrupled on election night with the election of Congresswoman Tammy Duckworth of Illinois, Attorney General Kamala Harris of California and Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto of Nevada (also our first Latina senator). Pramila Jayapal, a Washington state senator, has become the first Indian-American woman elected to the House of Representatives and Ihan Omar’s win in Minnesota makes her the first Somali-American elected to Congress.

We also saw some of our endorsed candidates claim victories across California:

Sabrina Cervantes, AD 60
Laura Friedman, AD 43
Monique Limón, AD 37
Blanca Rubio, AD 48
Nancy Skinner, SD 9

We also reelected great leaders like Assemblywoman Cristina Garcia, Assemblywoman Jacqui Irwin, Assemblywoman Autumn Burke, and Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez.

We have heard from so many of you wondering what you can do and asking us how you can get involved in the fight — how you can use your agency to take this country’s future into your own hands.

Now, more than ever, it’s time to put the power of the California Women’s List network to work.

We know that this election will bring together the fiercest, smartest, toughest generation of kick-ass women that this country could possibly imagine.

So we ask you: Please consider joining us in building California Women’s List by making your contribution today and by inviting your friends and family to do the same.

In Strength,

The California Women’s List Team
