At AmbitioUS, we’ve always been transparent about the time-limited nature of our work on behalf of BIPOC creatives, thinkers, and arts workers. Ten years and AmbitioUS sunsets.

Our promise is unchanged. But one of the prizes of this work is a commitment by our founding organization, the Center for Cultural Innovation (CCI), to ensure that the lessons we learn inspire action and continued experimentation.

CCI’s launch of the Sol Center for Liberated Work (Sol) is a daring example of that commitment and a direct outgrowth of AmbitioUS’ collaborations with culture bearers fighting for more social and economic power in marginalized communities. Launched initially with the name Rustle Lab, Sol is generously supported by a grant from the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation and others. We’re especially thrilled to welcome Sol to the CCI fold.

Whereas AmbitioUS has been laser-focused on identifying, investing in, and, increasing non-extractive models of support to BIPOC cultural communities and their artists, Sol intends to commission critical research, engage in collaborative advocacy, and incubate projects that reimagine social protections and shifts in power for all workers who deserve to be liberated from the precarious nature of gig work. The “all” in Sol’s universe means ALL, beginning with BIPOC, disabled, and immigrant workers historically excluded from existing social protection and systems.

But don’t just take it from us.

See what Sol is about, starting with a gorgeous new website featuring digital call-to-action tools, a raft of conventional and unconventional reports, and collaborations with movement groups already mobilized around website alternative labor and economic systems. Anyone interested is also invited to “Sol(ve)” with Sol by subscribing to their newsletter or following Sol on social media via Twitter or IG.

At AmbitioUS, we’re already joyously in; we hope building with Sol inspires you too.
