It’s amazing how those “off topic” conversations build a rapport without sidetracking everyone. We have found that our team takes a moment to contribute (when they can!), we get to know one another a bit more, and then the topic naturally trails off and we resume work. Many CEO’s might bristle at the thought of encouraging a seemingly random conversation but when you’ve hired the right team and you trust them, the topic serves to build relationships, give a moment of relief/break (similar to what would happen around the proverbial water cooler in a brick & mortar office), and then everyone gets back to the task at hand!
