Mentor matches: the scourge of offseason events

C’mon everyone, it’s just wrong

So, It’s about noon at your favorite offseason event, just about the right time for mentor matches. I’m here to tell you that mentor matches are wrong.

Your students just spent six weeks of what might be the most important part of their school year building a robot, and another eight weeks competing with that same robot, and you’re taking it to play a few matches against other mentors during the lunch break of an offseason event? How could you!

Even though the matches you play don’t matter, and you’ve only had ten minutes to drive the robot during build season so the kids could hone their skills, mentors driving their team’s robot for a few matches at an offseason event is just wrong. Don’t do it!

Please note, if you take this article seriously, there’s something wrong with you.
